Introduction

We must make it quite clear that we are merely the Luxembourg Tourist Office, and that it is not in our remit to help you move to Luxembourg, or relocate there, or find work, or get set up in Luxembourg, or ...

We are however so often faced with such questions, that we have decided to put together this page which purports to help those of you who are looking for further information on the general subject of "living in Luxembourg" and/or "moving to Luxembourg", and to give you whatever help we can in this area. Our general disclaimer applies.

Relocation companies, please note that we do not give you permission to print out this page, and to sell the information to your customers. Please instead direct customers to this page: http://www.luxembourg.co.uk/living.html. Thank you.

That said, you will find on this page details on:

Please use our feedback page to contact us (or send us an email)
if you have any further suggestions as to what to include here.

 Background

If you've not already done so, please read our page on Luxembourg, a linguistic puzzle, which will brief you on Languages in our country, and gives contact points for language courses.
Our introduction to the country as a whole Luxembourg in a Nutshell could be of much use to you, as indeed could be many of the pages we list on our index page.

The Book "Living in Luxembourg", produced by the American Women's Club of Luxembourg (AWCL) is another most useful resource on our country. Especially for Americans moving to Luxembourg, this book has a tremendous wealth of information to make the transition easier.
Contact the AWCL (American Women's Club of Luxembourg) 52 rue Marie-Adelaide, L-2128, Luxembourg-Belair, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 Accommodation

If you are looking for longer term accommodation other than Hotels & Guesthouses, eg Flats / houses / apartments, or perhaps even office space, may we direct you to contact one of the many estate agents in Luxembourg.

You would also be well-advised to consult the local papers, most of which are written in French and German. Two broadsheet papers have a particularly noteworthy web presence, and list their Small Ads sections [which include accommodation (check sub "Immobilier")] at:

There is only one (weekly) english-language newspaper: 352 , which sometimes lists accommodation to let. For further info contact:

 Social

Of much relevance to the subject of "living" in Luxembourg is the twice-yearly listing of Clubs and Associations, published at the above "Luxembourg News" web site.

"Luxembourg Accueil" has nearly 1000 members representing 35 different nationalities and was established in 1977 to provide information about living in Luxembourg and to help people become integrated. The association holds a variety of activities ranging from language, cooking & art classes to visits of sites of interest and newcomers' coffee mornings.

 Schools

You might have children who need schooling while you're working in Luxembourg. In our above-mentioned Luxembourg, a linguistic puzzle, we also briefly describe the use of languages in Luxembourg schools. Check the Ministry of Education's website for a schematic overview of the Luxembourg School System (pages in French).

In our London office, we are only aware of 3 schools that offer schooling in English:

Looking through the Luxembourg Telephone directory sub "école" might give you further details. Also of note is the fact that the Luxembourg Telephone Directory is on the web. Parents might also like to contact the Luxembourg Youth Club at:
